Contri-Story Thumbnail

Technology:
PHP / MySQL / HTML

Description:
This digital work is an experimentation with narrative and its form in terms of conventions, languages, techniques or practices.

Contri-story is a website that is a 'web 2.0' application in the sense that it seeks contributions from users that make up the content, or in this case the stories.

For Contri-Story, we integrated the Flickr Developers API so that whenever a photo is searched for to compliment a 'narrative' the list of photos returned are photos that have been uploaded to Flickr.

Contri-story also has a critical context as it investigates 'narratology' which is a term coined by Tzvetan Todorov in 1969 and means to study narrated texts. PanoConsulting wanted to look at narratology in the digital domain by examining the contributions that users make to a story paying particular attention to genre, point of view, continuity etc.

Testimonial:
'Contri-story' described as Web2 application using Flickr images to accompany user story text. Extremely well executed and immediately usable, supported by strong conceptual ideas regarding use of genres, punctuation and grammar, continuity and perspective.

Conclusion:
The project achieves what PanoConsulting set out to achieve and that with more contributions to stories then a narratology study of the project submissions will yield answers to the attitudes towards narrative in the digital domain.
